Guns N\u2019 Roses guitarist Slash has offered a highly anticipated update on the band\u2019s plans for a new studio album, confirming that the long-awaited record is in the works, despite the group\u2019s famously spontaneous creative process.<\/p>\n
In a recent interview with Guitar World<\/a>, Slash addressed the status of the album, which would be the first full-length collection of new material featuring the reunited core of Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan since the Use Your Illusion<\/em> era in the early \u201990s.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s coming,\u201d the iconic guitarist stated. \u201cI know it\u2019s coming because everybody is thinking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Slash revealed that the band currently possesses a substantial backlog of new material, stating, \u201cThere\u2019s so much material at this point \u2014 it\u2019s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and fucking get into it.\u201d He also shed light on the band\u2019s unique, often unpredictable approach to recording.<\/p>\n \u201cThe thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead,\u201d he explained. \u201cYou can never sit down and go, \u2018We\u2019re going to take this time, and we\u2019re going to do this.\u2019 Every time we\u2019ve done that, it falls apart.\u201d He emphasized that their best work emerges spontaneously: \u201cIt just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, it\u2019s off and running.\u201d<\/p>\n While the band has previously released four tracks in the wake of their 2016 reunion\u2014\u201dAbsurd,\u201d \u201cHard Skool<\/a>,\u201d \u201cPerhaps<\/a>,\u201d and \u201cThe General<\/a>,\u201d which were reworked tracks from the Chinese Democracy<\/em> era\u2014fans have been eagerly awaiting a full new album.<\/p>\n Slash\u2019s latest comments serve as the most definitive assurance yet that a new LP is a collective goal for the band.
