In space, no franchise ever stays dead. Even with Alien: Earth\u2019s <\/em>massive cliffhanger finale <\/a>dominating the conversation, the possibility of luring Sigourney Weaver back to the role of Ellen Ripley is always a promising prospect. The actor herself seems to be in that very mindset at the moment, as she revealed that there are some very early moves being made that could make it all happen.<\/p>\n

As an attendee of New York Comic Con 2025\u2019s panel celebrating the 1979 classic (Via EW<\/a>), Weaver probably shocked the crowd with what she had to say – which included the following:<\/p>\n

“Walter Hill is a very good friend of mine and he wrote 50 pages of where Ripley would be now and they are quite extraordinary. So I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I have had a meeting with Fox \u2014 Disney, or whoever it is now.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some of you out there are probably flashing back to that time when Neill Blomkamp\u2019s Alien 5<\/em> was a going concern; and don\u2019t worry – I\u2019m definitely one of you. That example was also invoked in this discussion, as Sigourney Weaver used it to further explain why<\/em> she is so bullish on coming back to the franchise that helped put her, and the Xenomorph (last seen in both 2024’s Alien Romulus<\/em>, as well as this year’s Alien: Earth)<\/em>, on the map as sci-fi icons.<\/p>\n
