While Nelson, the band, didn\u2019t have a No. 1 album, they also topped the Hot 100 with “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection” from their 1990 debut album After the Rain.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cTo Get Back to You\u201d was originally released in 2010 but is getting renewed interest in wake of its inclusion on the Peacemaker <\/em>Season 2 finale. The band just released the first-ever official music video for the song shot by acclaimed filmmaker and DC Studios co-chairman\/co-CEO James Gunn<\/a><\/strong>, the creator, writer and producer of Peacemaker.<\/em><\/p>\n In the episode, John Cena<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s Peacemaker character attends a concert by Nelson, which steps into the DC Universe.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted a band that was popular back in the Eighties or Nineties that would be potentially playing a rock cruise, which they\u2019ve done, I believe,\u201d Gunn explained, in an interview with Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Though he personally favors punk rock, and wasn\u2019t into Nelson during their prime, Gunn recently discovered the band after reading a book about hair metal titled Lightning Strikes Back.<\/em> \u201cI thought that album sort of revealed how talented they were,\u201d Gunn said. \u201cI truly believe it\u2019s a great album that nobody knows, a pretty great example of melodic rock. And the song is fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n Gunn sent his producers out to check out Nelson to see if they were up for the task and still looked the part. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d Matthew told the outlet. \u201cHe said, \u2018Our mission is basically to see if you guys still look OK and still play OK.\u2019 It was like, \u2018What was the verdict?\u2019 And he said, \u2018You passed the audition.’\u201d<\/p>\n Foxy Shazam<\/a>, a neo-glam band that performs this season\u2019s Peacemaker <\/em>theme song \u201cOh Lord\u201d is enjoying increased popularity due to the exposure on the show and Nelson is hoping that lightening will strike twice now that they\u2019re also part of the DC Cinematic Universe.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that\u2019s fantastic,\u201d Matthew told Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cPeople always thought we were cartoons anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n This story was originally reported by Parade<\/a> on Oct 10, 2025, where it first appeared in the News<\/a> section.
