With everything going on in Gaza, they\u2019re not even \u201chumanitarians of the week\u201d.<\/p>\n
These days it\u2019s debatable whether they are humanitarians at all.<\/p>\n
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan were given the prestigious award at the Project Healthy Minds gala<\/a> in New York on Thursday night.<\/p>\n Meghan was praised as \u201ca mother, wife, entrepreneur, and philanthropist\u201d while Harry\u2019s work with mental health companies and his controversial 2021 memoir Spare<\/em><\/a> were listed among his achievements.<\/p>\n Sorry, in what world is writing an autobiography trashing your family a \u201chumanitarian\u201d endeavour? Humanitarianism is defined as \u201cthe promotion of human welfare\u201d. Spare<\/em> didn\u2019t promote the Royal family\u2019s welfare. Did it make the Prince and Princess of Wales\u2019s minds \u201chealthier\u201d? Or improve the King and Queen\u2019s mental health? I doubt it.<\/p>\n Wouldn\u2019t it have been better to acknowledge the \u00a31.1m Harry recently donated to Children In Need? To be fair, their Archewell Foundation<\/a> has recently given $500,000 to three organisations supporting injured children from Gaza and Ukraine, which is creditable.<\/p>\n But let\u2019s be honest, their focus has been commercial, not charitable, since they left The Firm.<\/p>\n The couple were branded \u201cdisaster tourists\u201d in search of a \u201cphoto op\u201d after they were pictured consoling victims of the catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires in January. Now they\u2019ve apparently \u201cjoined the fight against predatory social media policies\u201d. But have they even once called out the Sussex Squad trolls who have spent years online abusing anyone who has the temerity to question their \u201cTruth\u201d?<\/p>\n When Meghan is not too busy self-aggrandising about doing the school run with sycophantic podcasters, she\u2019s being filmed popping handwritten notes into her children\u2019s pack lunches. Perhaps one of the Post Its will now be nominated for a Pulitzer Prize?<\/p>\n
