{"id":2083972,"date":"2025-10-11T15:05:29","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T15:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2083972"},"modified":"2025-10-11T15:05:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T15:05:29","slug":"liam-paynes-girlfriend-opens-up-about-mental-health-struggle-following-singers-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/liam-paynes-girlfriend-opens-up-about-mental-health-struggle-following-singers-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Liam Payne&#8217;s girlfriend opens up about mental health struggle following singer&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Kate Cassidy was admittedly mired in depression and \u201cjust not wanting to really live my life\u201d after her boyfriend Liam Payne\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was always just kind of doing nothing and just dealing with that grief and pain,\u201d she told Page Six exclusively at a special performance of \u201cThis is Crazy!\u201d to benefit <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nami.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, Cassidy said her outlook began to change after \u201cabout two months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI finally realized, \u2018OK, like I need to live my life, I need to get up, get out of bed,&#8217;\u201d she recalled. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Kate Cassidy was \u201cdealing with grief and pain\u201d after boyfriend Liam Payne\u2019s death.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>She was dating Payne for two years before he died in 2024. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/kateecass<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>So, the 26-year-old began setting her alarm earlier each day and began \u201cworking out, eating clean.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After that, Cassidy had to learn to \u201caccept\u201d Payne\u2019s death and \u201cwork [her] way through this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These days, as the first anniversary of Payne\u2019s death approaches on Oct. 16, the social media star told us she tries to \u201cstay as busy as I can.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that really helps my headspace,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The influencer began to set her alarm earlier each day to force herself to get up. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/kateecass<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>She also made sure to keep busy, exercise and eat healthy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI like to always like be up early, have a workout class planned, go for a nice walk, eat cleaner. I feel like, for me, being active always keeps my mind so much cleaner and healthier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former One Direction member <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/10\/16\/celebrity-news\/former-one-direction-member-liam-payne-dead-at-31\/\">died almost a year ago<\/a> after <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/10\/17\/celebrity-news\/liam-payne-fractured-skull-in-fatal-fall-from-hotel-balcony\/\">falling from a third-story balcony<\/a> at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, where he was staying as a guest. He was 31.<\/p>\n<p>An autopsy report later <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/10\/21\/celebrity-news\/liam-payne-had-multiple-drugs-including-crack-and-cocaine-in-his-system-at-time-of-fatal-fall-sources\/\">found drugs in Payne\u2019s system<\/a>.
