Graham Norton<\/a> has named the film star that was \u201chell\u201d to interview on his BBC<\/a> chat show.<\/p>\n The Irish host, who has presented The Graham Norton Show since 2007, has interviewed the most famous celebrities, ranging from Julia Roberts and Harrison Ford to Madonna and Taylor Swift<\/a>.<\/p>\n But Mark Wahlberg<\/a> looms large in Norton\u2019s memory due to the fact he was so drunk<\/a> while they were recording.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you ever see a drunk person on the show, it\u2019s because they\u2019ve arrived drunk \u2013 we have not made that happen,\u201d Norton, 62, said at Henley Literary Festival 2025 on Friday (10 October).<\/p>\n \u201cMark Wahlberg was a weird one because when he arrived, he didn\u2019t seem drunk. He told me about his film, told me a couple of stories about stunts going wrong or whatever, and then it was only 15 minutes into the show when whatever the hell was in his system really took hold \u2013\u00a0and it was hell.\u201d<\/p>\n The episode in question aired in 2013 and also featured Sarah Silverman and Michael Fassbender \u2013\u00a0both of whom struggled to get a word in because of Wahlberg, who was promoting Broken City.<\/p>\n \u201cNo one could tell a story,\u201d Norton explained. \u201c:You tried to tell a story, he\u2019d just interrupt and, at one stage, Michael Fassbender was telling a story and this one as going quite well. He was really getting into the heart of the anecdote.<\/p>\n Norton continued: \u201cI thought, \u2018this one is going well \u2013 I wonder why\u2019 and I looked over at Mark Wahlberg and he was asleep. So yeah, we don\u2019t encourage that.\u201d<\/p>\n The host debunked the rumour that producers get their guests drunk, stating: \u201cWe really don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019ll be a drink waiting for you if you want one and then, while we\u2019re showing a clip or getting the music ready, they might be able to rush in and top you up, but the most you can have is two, three tops.
