And it was an 9-1-1: Lone Star<\/a><\/em> alum who gave Rimes a reality check about the franchise and the plot points that beggar belief.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was talking the other day to Rob Lowe<\/a>, and he was talking about how, \u2018If you want reality, you don\u2019t go to this series. We have the craziest rescues, which is what\u2019s so interesting,\u2019\u201d Rimes told Us Weekly<\/a><\/em> on Tuesday, October 7, at the show\u2019s premiere in Nashville, Tennessee. \u201cWe\u2019ll be like, \u2018There\u2019s no way this has happened before in real life.\u2019 Then they\u2019ll show us the articles because they\u2019re pulling from real life situations.\u201d<\/p>\n

As with 9-1-1: Lone Star<\/em> and the flagship 9-1-1<\/em> series<\/a>, 9-1-1: Nashville<\/em> follows first responders as they do their best to save lives amid chaotic emergencies. The new spinoff features Chris O\u2019Donnell<\/a>as fire captain Don Hart and Jessica Capshaw<\/a> as his wife, Blythe. Rimes, meanwhile, plays Dixie Bennings, Don\u2019s ex and the mother of his son Blue, played by Hunter McVey<\/a>, as viewers discovered in Thursday\u2019s series premiere<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you think about it \u2014 in the world of however many millions of people there are \u2014 this stuff is bound to happen to somebody,\u201d Rimes added. \u201cEvery time we think it hasn\u2019t really happened, there\u2019s an article for that that shows you it has. What I love about it is, once you buy into the craziness of this show, you just fall in love with it. I remember watching the first couple episodes of 9-1-1<\/em>. I was like, \u2018What am I watching?\u2019 And then about the third episode, I was like, \u2018Whoa, I\u2019m totally into their own reality.\u2019 You just fall in love with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell told TV Insider<\/a> in a recent Q&A that he was taken aback by the firenado that viewers see in previews for the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I didn\u2019t know it was actually a real thing, to be honest with you,\u201d he said. \u201cI was kind of laughing. I was like, \u2018What the hell is a firenado?\u2019 And they said, \u2018Yeah, look it up.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
