When A Minecraft Movie performed impressively at the box office<\/a>, it was inevitable that a sequel would be on the way. Now, after a follow-up was officially confirmed, here’s what you need to know.<\/p>\n Following a whopping gross of $957 million<\/a>, a sequel was finally announced via the film’s social media channels on Thursday (9 October), with a post on X<\/a> reading: “Building terrain. See you in theaters July 23 2027.”<\/p>\n According to Variety<\/a>, director Jared Hess will return with an additional role this time around as he co-writes the screenplay with Chris Galletta, while Jason Momoa has been confirmed as a producer (so he will likely return in the cast too!).<\/p>\n It may not come as a huge surprise as Hess revealed in April<\/a> that talks were already underway on the follow-up, with the filmmaker saying: “Oh, man. Well, it would be so much fun.<\/p>\n “We had so much fun making this movie, and it\u2019s such an expansive world in the game, and there were so many things that we didn\u2019t tap into that we wanted to.
