Diane Keaton<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Father of the Bride<\/em> costar is remembering the legendary actress after her death.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis breaks my heart. Getting to work with Diane Keaton will always be one of the highlights of my life,\u201d Kimberly Williams-Paisley<\/strong> wrote in the comments section of People<\/em>\u2018s Instagram post announcing the actress\u2019 death, alongside a red heart emoji.<\/p>\n

News broke on Sunday, October 11, that Keaton died at age 79. A spokesperson for her family told People<\/em> that she was in California and no additional information about her death would be available at this time. Her family also \u201casked for privacy\u201d as they mourn her loss. Us Weekly<\/em> reached out for comment.<\/p>\n

Throughout her more than 50 year career in Hollywood, Keaton was known for various iconic roles, including Nina Banks<\/a> in The Father of the Bride<\/em> franchise, the mother of bride-to-be Annie Banks (Williams-Paisley).<\/p>\n

The film hit theaters in 1991, centering around the upcoming nuptials and George Banks (Steve Martin)<\/strong> trying \u2014 and often failing \u2014 to process letting go of his daughter. The ensemble cast also featured over-the-top wedding planner Frank Eggelhoffer (Martin Short<\/strong>), his assistant Howard Weinstein (BD Wong<\/strong>), groom Bryan MacKenzie (George Newbern<\/strong>) and Annie\u2019s little brother Matty Banks (Kieran Culkin<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

After the initial movie\u2019s success, Father of the Bride Part II<\/em> dropped in 1995. The cast went on to reunite<\/a> via Zoom in 2020 to benefit the World Central Kitchen, an organization that provides meals for kids and families impacted by natural disasters, war and other catastrophes, during the coronavirus pandemic. While reunited, fans received an update on the Banks family \u2014 Matty is now a comedy writer, George is retired and the family never left their home.<\/p>\n

Two years later, Keaton revealed to Us<\/em> that she wouldn\u2019t rule out the idea<\/a> of reprising her role as Nina. \u201cNo one\u2019s come forward with it. But if it were to happen, sure,\u201d Keaton shared in 2022. \u201cOf course I would.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSteven, Marty, I mean, they\u2019ve got their television show [Only Murders in the Building<\/em>] now. I mean, they\u2019re giants and they\u2019re just incredibly great actors and funny and smart and all that,\u201d Keaton gushed to Us<\/em> at the time about her former costars. \u201cWe all know that, and it works. How they\u2019re doing it on TV is pretty remarkable.\u201d<\/p>\n
