Hollywood is paying tribute to Diane Keaton.<\/p>\n
News of the beloved Oscar winner\u2019s death at the age of 79<\/a> was reported on Saturday, and many stars alongside her co-stars \u2014 who are friends and fans alike \u2014 are honoring her life and career on social media.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me,\u201d Bette Midler, who co-starred with Keaton along with Goldie Hawn in The First Wives Club<\/em>, wrote in a heartfelt tribute<\/a> on Instagram. \u201cShe was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was\u2026oh, la, lala!\u201d<\/p>\n Steve Martin, who portrayed Keaton\u2019s husband in 1991\u2019s Father of the Bride<\/em> and the sequel, paid tribute with a good-natured joke. In an Instagram post, he shared a clip from Interview Magazine<\/em>, which has Martin Short asking Keaton, \u201cWho\u2019s sexier, me or Steve Martin?\u201d Her reply: \u201cI mean, you\u2019re both idiots.\u201d In a caption, Martin said, \u201cit sums up our delightful relationship with Diane.\u201d<\/p>\n Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who played Keaton\u2019s daughter in Father of the Bride <\/em>and its sequel, said that working with Keaton \u201cwill always be one of the highlights of my life.\u201d Her Instagram post includes photos of the pair in the film. \u201cYou are one of a kind, and it was thrilling to be in your orbit for a time. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your talent, and above all, your laughter,\u201d Williams-Paisley wrote.<\/p>\n Jane Fonda, who co-starred with Keaton in Book Club<\/em> and its sequel Book Club: The Next Chapter<\/em>, shared a photo of a smiling Keaton on Instagram. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to believe\u2026or accept\u2026that Diane has passed,\u201d Fonda wrote. \u201cShe was always a spark of life and light, constantly giggling at her own foibles, being limitlessly creative\u2026in her acting, her wardrobe, her books, her friends, her homes, her library, her world view. Unique is what she was. And, though she didn\u2019t know it or wouldn\u2019t admit it, man she was a fine actress!<\/p>\n Cynthia Nixon reflected on her \u201cabsolute idol\u201d in a touching tribute. The pair co-starred in the 2014 film 5 Flights Up<\/em>. \u201cI loved her acting. I loved her vibe. I loved her everything,\u201d Nixon wrote on Instagram, along with sharing a carousel of photos she took with Keaton and also one with their co-star Morgan Freeman. \u201cStarting with when I was 12, I tried to dress like her. I wore my hair long. I sported men\u2019s hats and vests and (even though my eyes were fine) I wore bookish glasses because I thought they made me look more like her. A little more than a decade ago I got to be in a movie called Five Flights Up with her and it was like a dream come true.
