Stephen Colbert<\/strong> is in demand these days following news of his Late Show<\/em> cancellation.<\/p>\n The Emmy-winning funnyman, 61, made a virtual appearance during Saturday\u2019s Star Trek<\/em> universe panel at New York Comic Con to announce that he\u2019s voicing a role in the franchise’s upcoming show, Deadline<\/em> reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cFolks, I\u2019m sorry I couldn\u2019t be with you in person today. But I\u2019m a perfectionist, and I just didn\u2019t have enough bunting for my Mugato cosplay,\u201d he joked in the video played for fans, per Deadline<\/em>. \u201cHowever, nothing could stop me from sharing this exciting news: I\u2019m honored to announce that my beautiful voice will be joining Star Trek: Starfleet Academy<\/em> as the Digital Dean of Students.<\/p>\n Colbert continued, “I\u2019m thrilled to join this universe that I\u2019ve loved for so long, and unlike my on-camera castmates, I\u2019m thrilled to join it without having to spend four hours in hair and makeup everyday. I\u2019ll see you when Starfleet Academy<\/em> premieres. Until then, enjoy the Con. Live long… and do your thing.”<\/p>\n The show also revealed its new trailer and Paramount+ premiere date during Saturday’s panel, Deadline<\/em> noted.
