Cameron Diaz<\/a> has become a regular sight in New Jersey over the past few weeks.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s been filming the Netflix movie \u201cBad Day<\/a>\u201d with a series of co-stars in various towns and cities.<\/p>\n

Last week, the movie\u2019s second unit (not involving Diaz) shut down<\/a> Route 133<\/a> in East Windsor for filming, which the production plans to do again this week.<\/p>\n

Diaz filmed in Jersey City for several days last week as well as Perth Amboy on Thursday, having already filmed scenes in Plainfield<\/a> and Bloomfield<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBad Day,\u201d an action comedy, stars Diaz as Joy, a single mother who is having the worst day ever while trying to keep a promise to her daughter. <\/p>\n

Jake Szymanski<\/a> (\u201cJury Duty,\u201d \u201cMike and Dave Need Wedding Dates\u201d) is directing the film from writer Laura Solon<\/a> (\u201cOffice Christmas Party\u201d).<\/p>\n

Diaz has been seen on set in Jersey with Szymanski and co-stars including Ben Schwartz<\/a> (\u201cParks and Recreation,\u201d \u201cSonic the Hedgehog\u201d) and Rhenzy Feliz<\/a> (\u201cThe Penguin<\/a>\u201d). <\/p>\n

Last week, Diaz and Feliz filmed at a gas station in Jersey City. <\/p>\n

On Oct. 9, Diaz filmed a scene in Perth Amboy where her character rushes into a bank.<\/p>\n

The production has cast local Jersey extras<\/a> for various scenes.<\/p>\n

\u201cBad Day\u201d marks Diaz\u2019s continuing comeback<\/a> after spending nearly a decade away from acting. <\/p>\n

Her return started in January with \u201cBack in Action<\/a>,\u201d another Netflix action comedy co-starring Jamie Foxx.<\/p>\n

Before that, the most recent role for Diaz, 53, was in \u201cAnnie<\/a>\u201d (2014), also with Foxx. <\/p>\n

Diaz married Benji Madden<\/a> from the band Good Charlotte<\/a> in 2015. They welcomed a daughter, Raddix, in 2019 and a son, Cardinal, in 2024.<\/p>\n

Besides Diaz, Feliz and Schwartz, the \u201cBad Day\u201d cast includes Oscar and Emmy nominee Danielle Brooks<\/a>(\u201cThe Color Purple,\u201d \u201cOrange is the New Black\u201d); Emmy nominee Ed O\u2019Neill<\/a> (\u201cModern Family,\u201d \u201cMarried… with Children\u201d); John Higgins<\/a> (Please Don\u2019t Destroy on \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d); Emma Pearson<\/a> (\u201cGingerbread Kids\u201d); and Jessica Belkin<\/a> (\u201cThe Hunting Wives\u201d).<\/p>\n

\u201cBad Day\u201d is one of many Netflix productions recently and currently filming in New Jersey ahead of the planned 2028 opening of the streamer\u2019s studio facility at the former Fort Monmouth<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Filming is underway for the Jennifer Lopez<\/a> Netflix thriller \u201cThe Last Mrs. Parrish<\/a>,\u201d based on the bestselling book, as well as the Olympic boxing<\/a> movie \u201cFight for \u201984<\/a>\u2033 starring Diaz\u2019s former co-star Jamie Foxx<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Emmy winner Dan Levy<\/a>\u2019s series \u201cBig Mistakes<\/a>” has also been filming in Jersey with fellow Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf<\/a> and Taylor Ortega<\/a> (\u201cWelcome to Flatch\u201d), who grew up in East Windsor.<\/p>\n
