For the past few years, the <em>V\/H\/S <\/em>series of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/trick-r-treat-other-great-000400944.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:great anthology movies;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">great anthology movies<\/a> has given me some of the craziest, most unsettling, and goriest experiences, and it\u2019s no different this year with the release of <em>V\/H\/S\/Halloween<\/em>. Having read <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/movies\/articles\/v-h-halloween-review-franchise-201520715.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:CinemaBlend\u2019s four-star review;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">CinemaBlend\u2019s four-star review<\/a> before settling in for a night of thrills and chills, I was prepared for a couple more hours of insane found footage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The five segments (plus the frame narrative) that make up the eighth installment in the outrageous anthology series were over-the-top in terms of gore, visceral scenes, and stomach-churning imagery. However, it has something the other segments lack: an unsettling psychological aspect that seeps into your bones and doesn\u2019t leave. The film <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=l8XxoeV5LRU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:centers on a video store owner;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">centers on a video store owner<\/a> whose idea to make documentaries to help look for missing children results in several local kids being abducted, tortured, and ultimately killed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">After watching an hour or so of people getting trapped in demenanted haunted houses, getting turned into candy, and some bonkers soda taste tests, this more grounded \u201cKidprint\u201d left a lasting impression on me. It was just so unsettling, so plausible, so traumatizing. If you\u2019re a parent or just don\u2019t like watching movies where kids die, then this may not be for you. Sure, those other two mentioned shorts are more over-the-top and sensationalized when it comes to violence, but it\u2019s still there.
