However, having the romance impact Chad\u2019s relationship with his children was a deal breaker for him.<\/p>\n The breakup hopefully means the end of this forced relationship. We haven\u2019t been buying the Chad and Cat romance from the jump.<\/p>\n Even with the extenuating circumstances surrounding why Cat pretended to be Abigail (Marci Miller), Chad\u2019s desire to romance her was a stretch. Abigail was the love of his life. For him to date the person impersonating her was too much for us to get behind, even by soap standards.<\/p>\n No disrespect to Flynn or McCord; they are both talented actors, but their alter egos just didn\u2019t scream \u201ccouple.\u201d They gave off friendship vibes at most.<\/p>\n Cat seems to have more chemistry with EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) and Rafe (Galen Gering). Now, those are pairings that have serious soap potential.<\/p>\n Another reason we hope this is the end of the line for Cat and Chad is that a shake-up looms for the latter. In the New Year, Flynn will exit the role, and Chad will likely be off-screen for a while.<\/p>\n When Chad returns, The Young and the Restless<\/em> alum Conner Floyd (ex-Chance) will play the character.<\/a> Floyd won\u2019t make his DOOL debut until April 2026, which means Cat needs another storyline besides her not-so-successful romance with Chad.<\/p>\n The breakup of Cat and Chad was not only needed, but hopefully, it\u2019s the last time the Peacock soap tries to put them together.
