Iconic entertainer Diane Keaton<\/a><\/strong> appeared in dozens of projects throughout her illustrious career. However, many will always remember her for one of her early projects, one which earned her an Oscar. Annie Hall<\/em> won a handful of top awards in 1978, and the speech Keaton gave after winning Best Actress is resurfacing again in the wake of her heartbreaking death.<\/p>\n Several hours after news of Keaton’s death emerged, The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> shared video from her Oscar win via their Instagram page<\/a>.<\/p>\n When a surprised and flustered Keaton began her acceptance speech, she said, “Well, it’s simply terrific.”<\/p>\n She continued, “Naturally, I’m very honored to have been nominated with actresses like Jane Fonda<\/strong>, Shirley MacLaine<\/strong>, Anne Bancroft<\/strong>, and Marsha Mason<\/strong>. This is, um, something.”<\/p>\n Keaton added, “Anyway, Annie Hall <\/em>was a wonderful experience for me, and I just would like to say thanks to Woody [Allen]<\/strong> and thank you.”<\/p>\n As The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> noted, Allen wrote Annie Hall<\/em> based on Keaton specifically and the romance the two had shared. She went on to star in several other projects of his.<\/p>\n The Instagram post featuring Keaton’s Oscar win quickly received nearly 25,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Many people simply used strings of emojis in their comments to show their love and heartbreak over Keaton’s death.<\/p>\n One fan wrote<\/a>, “She will forever be missed. What a beautiful woman she was.”<\/p>\n Another wrote<\/a>, “One of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE Oscar wins. I don’t usually care one bit about who wins these dumb competitions…but I was totally rooting for her… and she won and I was overjoyed.”<\/p>\n “That was an amazing Oscar year for women,” added someone else<\/a>.<\/p>\n “An icon. I miss her already,” read another comment<\/a>.<\/p>\n On The Hollywood Reporter’s<\/em> Facebook post containing the speech, a fan gushed<\/a>, “I loved her in every movie I saw as a teenager! She was the true epitome of elegance and great style, and playfulness. So wise and humble.
