As firenadoes continue to rip through 9-1-1: Nashville<\/em>, an even more explosive force is brewing between Blythe (Jessica Capshaw) and Dixie (LeAnn Rimes).<\/p>\n Blythe has always known that her husband Don (Chris O\u2019Donnell) fathered a child with his ex-girlfriend Dixie during their brief separation, something she was fully prepared to leave in the past. But now that Don and Dixie\u2019s all-grown-up son Blue (Hunter McVey) has reentered his estranged father\u2019s life in a big way, the door to the past has flung violently open, forcing Blythe to get proactive in regards to her husband\u2019s ex.<\/p>\n More from TVLine<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m here to tell you to stay away from my husband,\u201d Blythe warns Dixie in the promo below, teasing one of many confrontations to come. \u201cIt\u2019s a declaration of war,\u201d showrunner Rashad Raisani tells TVLine. \u201cBlythe is graceful, respectful and appropriate. She\u2019s not a pushover, but she also doesn\u2019t want to have to get in the mud. Dixie is more like, \u2018You know what? Bring it. I\u2019ll fight you anywhere.\u2019 She\u2019s not above throwing a punch if she has to.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the appeals of setting the 9-1-1<\/em> spinoff in Nashville is that \u201cthere\u2019s more of that Dynasty<\/em> kind of feel,\u201d Raisani explains, describing the events of the series premiere as a \u201csoapy launch\u201d to prepare the audience for more heightened drama to come.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s going to be fun to watch these two very different kinds of women from very different backgrounds, but both in their own ways incredibly powerful, incredibly cunning, and with big hearts,\u201d Raisani adds. \u201cThe third episode is called \u2018Forces of Nature\u2019 for a reason. It\u2019s very specifically about those two characters.\u201d<\/p>\n But here\u2019s the million-dollar question: Does Blythe have anything to worry about? Does Don still have feelings for Dixie? We\u2019ll get more insight later this season when 9-1-1: Nashville<\/em> rehashes Don\u2019s origin story, including the origin of his relationship with Dixie.<\/p>\n \u201cDixie was his first love, and their fingerprints are on each other\u2019s lives, for good and for bad,\u201d Raisani says. \u201cThey have so much history and so much chemistry, and as far as Blythe is concerned, it\u2019s inevitable that if she\u2019s around him too much, nothing good can happen. Dixie has a way of creating trouble, especially when it comes to Don, and he has a soft spot for her.\u201d<\/p>\n To her credit, Dixie may be the villain of the show, but she isn\u2019t completely delusional. When she tells stories about working with Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood, she\u2019s telling the truth, albeit with a slightly bitter twist.<\/p>\n \u201cRyan Murphy pitched the character in one sentence that captured the whole essence of this human being: He said, \u2018I think her curse should be that she has been the backup singer to every big hit and never got her day in the sun,’\u201d Raisani says. \u201cNow you understand everything about where this person is going to come from. They\u2019ve never gotten their due, and that\u2019s going to inform everything that they do.\u201d<\/p>\n The three-part 9-1-1: Nashville<\/em> premiere continues Thursday at 9\/8c on ABC.
