With the news that Diane Keaton<\/strong> died on Saturday at age 79, friends of the legendary actress are honoring her with an outpouring of memories. Steve Martin<\/strong>, with whom Keaton starred in the Father of the Bride films, honored his longtime friend with an incredible throwback photo to their college days.<\/p>\n Martin, 80, took to Instagram on Sunday to share an old Playbill from a Santa Ana College production of Carousel. The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, which premiered in 1945, follows the story of carousel barker Billy Bigelow. However, Martin didn’t exactly have the leading role in the college production of the musical.<\/p>\n From the program, it’s clear that Keaton, who is identified by her real name, Diane Hall<\/strong>, had one of the top roles as Carrie Pipperidge, a millworker and friend of the leading lady Julie Jordan. However, you’ll have to scroll a bit further down the program to find Martin featured.<\/p>\n “This playbill is from a 1964 college production of Carousel. Diane ‘Hall’ (Keaton) is the lead; I\u2019m a stage hand,” Martin captioned the photo, which features both of their names circled. Her last Instagram post was shared on April 11, showing her playing alongside her beloved golden retriever, Reggie.<\/p>\n Sources told PEOPLE<\/a> that her health had declined suddenly over the last few months, but that she was always surrounded by family.<\/p>\n \u201cShe declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,\u201d a friend told the publication. \u201cIt was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”<\/p>\n They continued, stating that “In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private.
