(WJBF) \u2014 <\/strong>A new dark comedy filmed right here in Augusta is bringing Hollywood vibes to the CSRA. \u201cNot So Bright\u201d is the brainchild of Choice Skinner, with cousins Dylan and Willis Fincher starring as brothers in the film.<\/p>\n \u201cNot So Bright is an idea that I came up with\u2026these two guys were in my acting studio,\u201d Choice said. \u201cI saw him at the golf course one day in a dream. I just said, this is something that I know can lead to something amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n The comedy draws inspiration from classics of the 1990s. \u201cPineapple Express, The Hangover\u2026Superbad, True Romance,\u201d Dylan said. \u201cThe type of comedies that we especially grew up on\u2026recently comedies have lost that touch. That\u2019s what we\u2019re trying to bring back.\u201d<\/p>\n Filming began September 3, and the cousins say working together has been natural. \u201cWe\u2019ve always pretty much had just about the same taste in movies and various pop culture, but especially movies, especially comedy\u2026It\u2019s been the highlight of our lives,\u201d Willis said. \u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have it any other way.\u201d<\/p>\n Bringing the project to Augusta offered opportunities they couldn\u2019t get in California. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t be able to do what I\u2019m doing here in Augusta in California\u2026with the resources of people who are working with us, our sponsors,\u201d Choice said. \u201cLocally, we\u2019ve had a lot of sponsors, friends, people who have come in and let us use locations. We\u2019re working with no budget here\u2026it\u2019s been awesome to see the crew and people who really believe in the project.\u201d<\/p>\n The film features local talent, including NFL star Ray and Coco Hillary. \u201cLocal people who haven\u2019t had big breaks\u2026Ray\u2019s first film. He\u2019s just knocking it dead in every scene,\u201d Dylan said. \u201cAugusta has some amazing talent.\u201d<\/p>\n About 70% of the cast came from Troy\u2019s acting classes at Image Max Studios. \u201cA lot of them studied with me over a year to two years. It\u2019s easy to direct \u2018cause I don\u2019t have to give so much direction all the time,\u201d Choice said.<\/p>\n \u201cNot So Bright\u201d will have a theatrical run, with a release planned for late spring to early summer 2026. \u201cMake sure you come to the premiere\u2026right here in Augusta, Georgia,\u201d Choice added.<\/p>\n
