It later achieved <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.riaa.com\/gold-platinum\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:RIAA gold certification;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">RIAA gold certification<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The South Carolina native had a very special person in mind when he created the uber-popular album: country music and songwriting icon <strong>Radney Foster<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Foster, 66, received major recognition with the release of his first solo album\u2014<em>Del Rio, TX 1959<\/em>\u2014in 1992. The Texas native was born in Del Rio in 1959, while Rucker was born in Charleston in 1966.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In an October 2010 interview with <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theboot.com\/darius-rucker-interview-charleston-sc-1966\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Boot;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">The Boot<\/a><\/em>, Rucker discussed how he was greatly impacted by the <em><strong>Foster &amp; Lloyd<\/strong><\/em> singer, revealing that his second country album received its name largely due to the fellow country star.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The main reason is because of Radney Foster. He came out with &#8216;Del Rio, Texas 1959&#8217; back in &#8217;92 and that was one of those light switch records for me,&#8221; the <strong>Hootie &amp; the Blowfish<\/strong> frontman said, per the outlet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I wanted to pay homage to my idol, because Radney is my idol.
