Keira Knightley <\/strong>has revealed that she wasn\u2019t aware of the J.K. Rowling<\/strong> backlash before signing up for a Harry Potter audiobook cast. In September, Deadline announced that she\u2019s lending her voice to Professor Umbridge in Pottermore Publishing and\u00a0Audible\u2019s\u00a0Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions.<\/p>\n In conversation with Decider<\/a>, Knightley shared that she wasn\u2019t aware of Rowling\u2019s boycott for her anti-transgender views and apologized. She said, \u201cI was not aware of that, no. I\u2019m very sorry. You know, I think we\u2019re all living in a period of time right now where we\u2019re all going to have to figure out how to live together, aren\u2019t we? And we\u2019ve all got very different opinions. I hope that we can all find respect.\u201d<\/p>\n Director Simon Stone, who was also there to promote their new movie, The Women in Cabin 10, agreed to Knightley\u2019s point while sharing his own outlook on people\u2019s different political issues. He added, \u201cWe all have hatred, deep hatred for someone in the universe\u2014someone in the class. Let\u2019s reduce it to classroom politics. There is always the kid that we cannot stand. I think we\u2019d all agree that where that kid for someone else, too. \u201c<\/p>\n He further explained, \u201cUnfortunately, all sides of the political spectrum are currently trying to shut that kid\u2019s voice down, but they don\u2019t realize the irony of the fact that they\u2019re also that kid for someone else. If we can have all have a moratorium on that, and just let chaos live for a little bit, we might find our way out.\u201d<\/p>\n The star-studded Harry Potter audiobook will be released on November 4, 2025.
