Nancy Jones, the widow of country music legend George Jones, was in court this week testifying in a case against her ex \u2014 Kirk West \u2014 who is accused of stealing more than $10 million in cash and crypto from her. <\/p>\n
Rolling Stone reported<\/b><\/a> <\/b>that Jones took the stand during a court hearing on Oct. 7 in Tennessee.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything that he told me, I definitely trusted him,\u201d she said. \u201cEven the romantic part, I definitely trusted him.\u201d<\/p>\n West was arrested back on July 24 at the Nashville International Airport one day after Nancy Jones filed a theft report against him.<\/p>\n Court documents showed that Nancy claimed she became suspicious that West, described as her \u201clong-term romantic partner,\u201d might be cheating on her. She said that is when she called a granddaughter and asked her to check a safe that only she and West had a code for.<\/p>\n Nancy Jones claimed that her granddaughter discovered that $400,000 in cash was missing from the safe, per Taste of Country, and that a crypto wallet with 5,534,307 units of the digital currency XRP was also missing. <\/p>\n That amount of XRP was reportedly valued at $11,622,044.70 at the time.<\/p>\n Taste of Country said court documents said Nancy Jones kicked West out of her home on June 28. She claimed he later called and said he would return $5 million in the crypto money but no more.<\/p>\n West was reportedly been charged with theft of over $250,000, which is a Class A felony in Tennessee.<\/p>\n In court this week, Nancy Jones said that West took an active role in helping to manage the Jones estate and her finances, according to Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n \u201cHe took care of everything,\u201d she said. \u201cI didn\u2019t take care of nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n The outlet said that prosecutors asked her if she trusted West.<\/p>\n \u201cOne hundred percent,\u201d she responded. <\/p>\n She also reportedly told prosecutors that West called himself \u201ca financial manager.\u201d <\/p>\n This is reportedly not his first brush with the law. <\/p>\n According to reports, West was charged with bank fraud in 2016, and Nancy Jones said she paid his legal fees and hired representation then. <\/p>\n The two reportedly first met back in 2013, about four months after George Jones\u2019 death.<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
