Taylor Swift has completed her The Life of a Showgirl <\/a><\/em>first-week victory lap. Her prize? The top spot on the Billboard 200 <\/a>albums chart, which marks her 15th Number One album and sets a new record for first-week sales with just over 4 million equivalent album units. Topping off that feat, songs from Swift\u2019s The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> also occupy all Top 12 spots<\/a> in the Billboard Hot 100 chart.<\/p>\n On Instagram, the singer reflected on the milestone in a post that looked back on the release of her self-titled debut album released nearly two decades ago. \u201cI\u2019ll never forget how excited I was in 2006 when my first album sold 40,000 copies in its first week,\u201d Swift wrote. \u201cI was 16 and couldn\u2019t even fathom that that many people would care enough about my music to invest their time and energy into it. This was thanks, in part, to the CD and vinyl variants <\/a>she released leading up to the albums release. Most were only available for 24 hours and contained exclusive acoustic versions, demos, and voice messages that fueled fan fervor.<\/p>\n There were CD variant versions titled \u201cSweat and Vanilla Perfume,\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s Frightening,\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s Rapturous,\u201d and \u201cIt\u2019s Beautiful,\u201d plus vinyl variant versions titled \u201cThe Shiny Bug,\u201d \u201cBaby, That\u2019s Show Business,\u201d \u201cTiny Bubbles in Champagne,\u201d and \u201cThe Crowd Is Your King.\u201d Then came four more CD releases titled the \u201cAlone in My Tower Acoustic Version,\u201d \u201cDressing Room Rehearsal Version,\u201d \u201cThe Life Is a Song Acoustic Version,\u201d and \u201cSo Glamorous Cabaret Version.\u201d The \u201cDressing Room Rehearsal Version\u201d and \u201cAlone in My Tower Acoustic Version\u201d came in deluxe formats, too.<\/p>\n Fans celebrated the release at movie theater screenings of The Official Release Party of a Showgirl<\/em>, <\/a>which premiered the \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d<\/a> music video, lyric videos for the rest of the album, and exclusive commentary on each track from Swift.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you for going out to celebrate this project in the movie theaters, investing in vinyl, streaming, watching the video, buying CDs, reading the poems I wrote inside the packaging, and immersing yourselves in The Life of a Showgirl,\u201d Swift said. \u201cI\u2019ll cherish this feeling forever.
