Late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert has secured his next venture following the news that \u201cThe Late Show\u201d will conclude its run next year.<\/a><\/p>\n The comedian revealed he will lend his voice to the Paramount+ series \u201cStar Trek: Starfleet Academy\u201d as the digital dean of students.<\/p>\n In the role, he will deliver daily announcements and alerts to young cadets training to become Starfleet officers, Paramount said<\/a> in a press release.<\/p>\n Colbert announced<\/a> the new opportunity in a video on Oct. 11 during a \u201cStar Trek\u201d panel at New York Comic Con.<\/p>\n \u201cGreetings and felicitations, New York Comic Con,\u201d the comedian said in a recorded announcement. \u201cTis I, Stephen Colbert. Folks, I\u2019m sorry I couldn\u2019t be with you in person today, but I\u2019m a perfectionist and I just didn\u2019t have enough bunting for my Mugato cosplay. However, nothing could stop me from sharing this exciting news.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cI am honored to announce that my beautiful voice will be joining \u2018Star Trek: Starfleet Academy\u2019 as the digital dean of students, where I\u2019ll get to announce things like, \u2018Attention Ensign Krebs, your Talaxian Furfly has exited the replicator and is now mating with itself.\u2019”<\/p>\n Colbert told fans that he is \u201cthrilled\u201d to be joining the \u201cStar Trek\u201d universe while joking that he won\u2019t have to \u201cspend four hours in hair and makeup everyday\u201d since he won\u2019t be appearing on screen, unlike his cast members.<\/p>\n The show stars Oscar winner Holly Hunter as the chancellor of Starfleet Academy, alongside Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti who plays the recurring villain, Nus Braka.<\/p>\n The cast also features Starfleet cadets Sandro Rosta, Karim Dian\u00e9, Kerrice Brooks, George Hawkins and Bella Shepard, plus Zo\u00eb Steiner, Tig Notaro, Robert Picardo, and guest stars Oded Fehr, Mary Wiseman, as well as recurring guest star Gina Yashere.<\/p>\n \u201cStarfleet Academy\u201d will premiere with two episodes on Jan. 15, 2026, Paramount said.<\/p>\n Following the premiere, new episodes of the 10-episode season will drop weekly on Thursdays with the season finale on March 12.<\/p>\n Read the original article on MassLive<\/a>.
