Iconic rock drummer Thommy Price, known for his time with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, has died at 68.<\/p>\n
The musician\u2019s wife, Stefunny, shared the news of his death on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cA devoted husband and proud father and powerhouse drummer and songwriter, Thommy\u2019s extraordinary career spanned decades, performing and recording with some of rock\u2019s most iconic artists,\u201d the post reads. \u201cHis energy, kindness, humor, and unmatched rhythm left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him and every stage he graced.\u201d<\/p>\n Price, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, began<\/a> his drumming career with the band Scandal. He would go on to perform with Billy Idol before his decades-long stint with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, which began in 1986.<\/p>\n \u201cWe lost a member of the Blackheart family – the one of a kind Thommy Price,\u201d Joan Jett wrote in a post on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cThommy was a legendary drummer who was a Blackheart for 4 decades. He was a drummer\u2019s drummer and admired by so many. Our hearts are heavy. Sending love to his beautiful family. We love you Thommy.\u201d<\/p>\n During his stint with Jett, he played on eight studio albums, including on the 1988 hit \u201cI Hate Myself for Loving You.\u201d<\/p>\n As a session drummer, Price recorded music with many iconic musicians, including Peter Wolf, Enrique Iglesias, Frank Wright, The Waterboys and Debbie Harry.<\/p>\n A cause of death has not been revealed and funeral service details will be announced in the coming days, according to Stefunny Price.<\/p>\n Read the original article on MassLive<\/a>.
