Diane Keaton\u2019s<\/a> close friend Carole Bayer Sager<\/strong> opened up about the last time she saw the legendary Hollywood actress and admitted she was surprised by her appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin,\u201d Sager told People<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Sunday, October 12. \u201cShe had lost so much weight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keaton had spent much of her time in Palm Springs in the year before her death due to the California wildfires in January, and Sager said that she had seen her friend less.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything,\u201d Sager, who co-wrote Keaton\u2019s single, \u201cFirst Christmas,\u201d continued. \u201cShe was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she\u2019d lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the change in appearance, Sager said that the Father of the Bride<\/em> star was still \u201ca magic light for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just loved her. She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy,\u201d Sager added. \u201cShe was happy and upbeat and taking photographs of everything she saw. She was completely creative; she never stopped creating.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keaton died on October 11<\/a>, but no cause of death has been released. She was 79.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
