Diane Keaton\u2019s friends are sharing details that may allude to the actress\u2019 cause of death.<\/p>\n
On October 11, news broke that the Oscar winner had died at age 79 but offered limited details about how she died. Now, details are emerging about Keaton\u2019s final days<\/a>.<\/p>\n More from SheKnows<\/strong><\/p>\n Longtime friend Carole Bayer Sager told People<\/em> that<\/a> when she saw Keaton recently, she was shocked by her appearance. \u201cI saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin,\u201d the award-winning singer-songwriter said. \u201cShe had lost so much weight.\u201d<\/p>\n Sager added that she hadn\u2019t seen Keaton often over the past year after the actress left Los Angeles following the wildfires earlier this year.<\/p>\n \u201cShe had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything,\u201d said Sager. \u201cShe was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she\u2019d lost.\u201d<\/p>\n Another pal told People<\/em><\/a> that the Annie Hall star\u2019s<\/a> health took a turn quickly in recent months, leaving some of her closest friends in the dark about what was happening. \u201cShe declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,\u201d the friend said. \u201cIt was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n The source added, \u201cIn her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren\u2019t fully aware of what was happening.\u201d<\/p>\n No official cause of death has been revealed after Keaton\u2019s passing. A recording of a 911 call obtained by TMZ<\/a> reveals that the Los Angles Fire Department was called to Keaton\u2019s LA home at around 8am on Saturday, October 11, responding to reports of a \u201cperson down.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to her death, Keaton battled with bulimia and skin cancer.<\/p>\n Keaton spoke about her eating disorder to Dr. Oz in 2014. \u201cAll I did was feed my hunger, so I am an addict,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s true. I\u2019m an addict in recovery, I\u2019ll always be an addict. I have an addictive nature to me.\u201d She revealed that, during her battle with bulimia, she would eat up to 20,000 calories and then force herself to throw it up.<\/p>\n In her 20s, Keaton overcame basal cell carcinoma. Then, decades later, she was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer which took two surgeries to remove.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a family history,\u201d she told the Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a> in 2015. \u201cI remember my Auntie Martha had skin cancer so bad they removed her nose. My father had basal skin cancer and my brother had it. It\u2019s tricky with this skin cancer.
