Prince Harry\u2019s renewed push for a review of his UK security set up is \u201cnot going to help matters\u201d amid his fledgling reconciliation with the King.<\/p>\n

The monarch and his son finally met face-to-face for a long-awaited in-person reunion last month \u2013 their first in more than a year \u2013 following years of worsening tensions.<\/p>\n

Following his bruising appeal loss in the UK courts in May over the decision to downgrade his automatic around-the-clock (and taxpayer-funded security) in favour of a \u201cbespoke\u201d arrangement, Harry has been vocal about his disappointment. <\/p>\n

According to the UK\u2019s Sunday Times<\/a><\/i>, Harry has now reached out to the recently-appointed home secretary Shabana Mahmood, asking for his security to be reviewed \u2013 which Palace sources claim once again \u201ccomplicates things for the King.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not going to help matters,\u201d a source told the publication\u2019s royal editor Roya Nikkah. \u201cWe\u2019re back to where we were.\u201d<\/p>\n

The legal saga, playing out in the King\u2019s courts, has created an awkward situation for his father, with reports he\u2019d even been wary of communicating with his son during proceedings out of concern it could be brought up in court.<\/p>\n

In his explosive BBC interview in May off the back of his loss in the UK\u2019s Court of Appeal, Harry himself had acknowledged the tension between them, admitting: \u201c[My father] won\u2019t speak to me because of this security stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also told the broadcaster that when it came to his security, \u201cthere is a lot of control and ability in my father\u2019s hands\u201d, and claimed that \u201cthis whole thing could be resolved\u201d by him.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts to do what is necessary,\u201d Harry said.<\/p>\n

He also described the ruling as \u201ca good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up\u201d.<\/p>\n

The issue of Harry\u2019s security is once again under the microscope following the revelation last week that a stalker came \u201cwithin feet\u201d of him during his visit to the UK last month for a series of charity engagements.<\/p>\n

The duke currently receives a level of security determined on a case-by-case basis while in his home country, an arrangement decided once he left royal duties to move to the US back in 2020.<\/p>\n

Working royals automatically receive around-the-clock police protection.<\/p>\n

Following the Times\u2019<\/i> report of a renewed government lobbying by Harry, the delicate two-month operation to establish a relationship between he and his father could now once again be under threat.<\/p>\n
