If may be hard to remember now \u2014 through the haze<\/a> of five-plus years<\/a> since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic<\/a> \u2014 but Apple TV+<\/a> launched in 2019.<\/p>\n

The streaming service started with series like \u201cThe Morning Show<\/a>,\u201d \u201cDickinson<\/a>,\u201d \u201cSee<\/a>\u201d and \u201cFor All Mankind<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, nearly six years later, Apple TV+ is changing its name. <\/p>\n

Slightly. <\/p>\n

The streamer is dropping that mark so ubiquitous in other streaming services like Disney+<\/a>, Paramount+<\/a>, Discovery+<\/a> and AMC+<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s subtracting the plus.<\/p>\n

The streaming service, now called Apple TV<\/a>, announced the change Monday at the bottom of a press release<\/a> about something else \u2014 the December streaming debut of the movie \u201cF1<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cApple TV+ is now simply Apple TV, with a vibrant new identity<\/a>,\u201d the streamer said in the release. <\/p>\n

Apparently, nixing the plus increases vibrancy. (It usually works the other way around if you\u2019re adjusting a screen display.) <\/p>\n

Anyway, as of this writing, \u201cApple TV+<\/a>\u201d is still visible on the streamer\u2019s landing page. <\/p>\n

The name change follows another recent streaming switcheroo from HBO Max<\/a>, formerly known as Max … formerly known as HBO Max. <\/p>\n

Of course, Apple TV+<\/a> is distinct from the Apple TV app, though they now share the same name.<\/p>\n

The streamer is home to popular Emmy-winning shows like \u201cSeverance<\/a>\u201d \u2014 which films in New Jersey<\/a> \u2014 \u201cTed Lasso<\/a>\u201d and \u201cSlow Horses<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
