And as you run around and scream and bang things\u2026 all I can think about is how grateful I am that you came to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Van Der Beek referenced his health struggles in the birthday message to Jeremiah, saying, \u201cI\u2019m sorry there have been spells where I couldn\u2019t be the father I would want to be for you\u2026 where I was too weak to pick you up, throw you around, or even put you to bed\u2026 but know that watching you reveal yourself to us has been one of the greatest joys of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Van Der Beek revealed his cancer diagnosis in November 2024, and last month, he <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/starmagazine.com\/james-van-der-beek-will-miss-dawsons-creek-reunion-amid-cancer-battle-worst-possible-moment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">canceled his in-person attendance<\/a> at the <em>Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> reunion for health reasons.
