Following the news of Diane Keaton<\/strong>‘s death,<\/a> both Hollywood peers and celebrities who are simply fans, have come out to honor the late, beloved actress. She was 79.<\/p>\n Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert <\/strong>also honored the late star with a lengthy tribute,<\/a> where she, in part, referred to Keaton as her “idol.”<\/p>\n “People often ask me who my idol is and I\u2019ve never really answered truthfully because I hoped our paths would cross again (they did once when I was seventeen) and I didn\u2019t want her to know that she was my idol ..so much so..that I knew I\u2019d gush and say something embarrassing,” she wrote. “I kept it to myself, so that if we ever did meet, she wouldn\u2019t know what a dufus I am in advance. My giddiness and idolatry would roll out slowly (hopefully) so that I might be able to chat with her like a (semi) normal person for a minute. I loved everything about her.”<\/p>\n Singer Carole Bay Sager<\/strong>also took to Instagram<\/a> with a tribute, calling Keaton her “forever friend.” <\/p>\n “My forever friend. I will miss you so much,” she wrote. “Be at peace now. I love you with all my heart.” <\/p>\n Sager also posted a video<\/a> of Keaton listening to the song “First Christmas” \u2014 which the actress recorded last year, she wrote for her with the caption, “you made this world a better place.”<\/p>\n A devastated Viola Davis<\/strong> also shared a tribute to Keaton. The post<\/a> was complete with “First Christmas” as the audio paired with video of her singing.<\/p>\n “No!! No!!! No!! God, not yet, NO!!! Man\u2026 you defined womanhood,” Davis wrote. “The pathos, humor, levity, your ever-present youthfulness and vulnerability \u2014 you tattooed your SOUL into every role, making it impossible to imagine anyone else inhabiting them. You were undeniably, unapologetically YOU!!! Loved you. Man\u2026 rest well. God bless your family, and I know angels are flying you home.”<\/p>\n Mandy Moore<\/strong> who starred alongside Keaton in 2007 rom-com Because I Said So<\/a> also took to Instagram with a tribute to her on-screen mom.<\/a><\/p>\n “They say don\u2019t meet your heros but I got to work with one of mine and even call her \u201cmom\u201d for a few months. An honor of a lifetime,” Moore wrote. “What an incandescent human Di is and was. I am so sad she\u2019s gone for all the reasons but also because it felt like she\u2019d be here forever, dazzling us with her talent and charm (and her style, c\u2019mon)!!!
