Alec Baldwin\u2019s been busy \u2014 hosting film fests, resurrecting projects, fronting a TLC reality TV series \u2014 but now he\u2019s making headlines for something a little less glamorous: crashing his wife’s six-figure ride into a tree in the Hamptons.<\/p>\n
TMZ<\/em><\/a> was first to break the news on Monday October 13. The 67-year-old actor was traveling in a white Range Rover on Montauk Highway in East Hampton when the vehicle veered off and crashed into a tree. He appeared uninjured and was spotted speaking with officers beside the mangled SUV, while his brother, Stephen Baldwin, stood nearby. The front end was completely crumpled \u2014 hood bent, grille shattered \u2014 but both men seemed to walk away without serious harm.<\/p>\n According to Range Rover\u2019s site<\/a>, the kind of SUV Alec was driving starts near $110,000 and can push well beyond $200,000 when fully equipped.<\/p>\n Hours later, the 30 Rock<\/em> alum addressed the incident in an Instagram video<\/a>, explaining that the accident happened after he swerved to avoid a \u201cgarbage truck the size of a whale.\u201d He said, \u201cTo avoid hitting him, I hit a tree \u2014 a big fat tree and crushed my wife\u2019s car. I crushed my wife\u2019s car and I feel bad about that, but it\u2019s all fine and I\u2019m fine and my brother\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/p>\n The Hollywood icon was in the Hamptons this weekend for the Hamptons International Film Festival, where he serves as a board co-chair<\/a>. Just a few days earlier, he was in Buffalo, making an appearance at another film festival<\/a> for his project Baristas vs. Billionaires<\/em>, before returning east.
