A TV legend has hosted a private Cotswolds event with Jeremy Clarkson and members of the royal family attending.<\/p>\n

Simon Cowell and his fianc\u00e9e, Lauren Silverman, have lived in the Cotswolds for several years alongside other famous faces, including Jeremy Clarkson and Ellen DeGeneres.<\/p>\n

The celebrity couple put together a private fundraiser for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity in the iconic section of the British countryside which they call home.<\/p>\n

Several locally based celebrities attended, including Mr Clarkson, who acted as an auctioneer to help maximise the money raised at the event.<\/p>\n

This was clearly successful as the get-together helped raise \u00a31.1m for a children\u2019s cancer centre at the hospital in the capital, smashing the initial \u00a3250k target.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Hello! , Mr Cowell said: “I really felt that everyone was here for the right reasons.<\/p>\n

“There was a really good atmosphere. Everyone wanted it to succeed, and they were passionate about it.<\/p>\n

“We kept using the word \u2018hope\u2019 because what this charity does is give people hope.”<\/p>\n

On the itinerary for the day was a three-course lunch catered by Daylesford Organic and the auction hosted by Mr Clarkson.<\/p>\n

There was also a clay pigeon shoot, which was attended by royal family members Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, according to Hello! .<\/p>\n

Mr Clarkson, who attended the event with his partner Lisa Hogan, told the magazine: “There is a nice quote I heard, which is: ‘Trying to determine why some people don’t get better gives them hope, and hope is half the battle’.<\/p>\n

“So if there is the money to look into why, the people who are suffering have hope, which is so important.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
