Mel Gibson<\/a> is back with a sequel to his 2004 hit The Passion of the Christ<\/a>. The new film, called The Resurrection of the Christ<\/a>, has started filming in Rome at Cinecitt\u00e0 Studios. Finnish actor Jaakko Ohtonen<\/a>, known for The Last Kingdom<\/a>, will play Jesus, taking over from Jim Caviezel<\/a>, who starred in the original movie.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s cast has been completely changed. Mariela Garriga<\/a>, a Cuban actress who appeared in the Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning films, will play Mary Magdalene<\/a>. Kasia Smutniak<\/a>, a Polish-born actress, will take the role of Mary, while Italian actor Pier Luigi Pasino<\/a> plays Peter.<\/p>\n
