Meghan McCain<\/strong> <\/a>is offering a health update on her mom, Cindy McCain<\/strong><\/a>, who suffered \u201ca mild stroke\u201d earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t talk about it on my social media because my brothers and my family and I were trying to, you know, figure out what was going on,\u201d Meghan, 40, explained during the Tuesday, October 14, episode of her \u201cCitizen McCain\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cShe lives in Rome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan told listeners that Cindy, 71, has since \u201cflown back to Arizona\u201d for her recovery, which is going \u201cvery well.\u201d Meghan confirmed that her mother is still hospitalized \u2014 but will be discharged shortly.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is cognitively completely fine. Can talk just normal, like she always has. [She\u2019s] texting, and I\u2019ve talked to her many times and to my family,\u201d Meghan continued. \u201cBut she has some physical things that have happened as a result of the stroke.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cAll things considered, it is mild, as the doctor said, and not intense, but still scary nonetheless. But she is OK. Thank you all for asking.\u201d<\/p>\n

News broke on Thursday, October 9, that Cindy suffered a stroke while in Italy with the U.N. World Food Program.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank the medical staff in Italy for the excellent treatment I received,\u201d Cindy shared in a statement<\/a> at the time. \u201cMy recovery is progressing well thanks to their outstanding care. I look forward to continuing my recuperation at home in Arizona with my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

The McCain family didn\u2019t share any further information about Cindy on social media following the health scare. They were \u201call trying to figure out exactly where we landed in this,\u201d Meghan explained on Tuesday\u2019s podcast episode.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe will be fine. I am glad that she is in Arizona with my family,\u201d she continued. \u201cFor those of you asking why I\u2019m not in Arizona with my family, I am seven months pregnant. I am not allowed to fly that far yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan noted that she is going to the doctor for \u201cclearance\u201d to get on an airplane.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe good thing about having six brothers and sisters<\/a> is there\u2019s a lot of family members, all hands on deck, taking care of my mom right now,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n

Meghan is the eldest child of Cindy and the late former Vice President John McCain<\/strong>, who also share Jack, 39, Jimmy, 37, and adopted daughter Bridget, 34. (John was previously married to Carol McCain<\/a>, with whom he shares daughter Sidney, 59. He also adopted Carol\u2019s two sons, Doug, 66, and Andrew, 63, from a previous relationship.)<\/p>\n

Meghan, meanwhile, announced in June that she was pregnant and expecting her third child<\/a>, a boy, with husband Ben Domenech<\/strong>. The couple have been married since 2017 and previously suffered a miscarriage.<\/p>\n
