Iconic R&B singer D\u2019Angelo has died after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to TMZ.<\/p>\n
He was 51.<\/p>\n
The outlet cited \u201csources connected to his family\u201d as well as his former manager Kedar Massenberg in reporting his death.<\/p>\n
TMZ said<\/b> <\/a>he is survived by two sons and a daughter. Adding to his family\u2019s pain, fellow R&B legend Angie Stone, who died in a car crash this year, was the mother of his first son. <\/p>\n The singer\u2019s death comes just months after he pulled out of the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia at the last minute citing health issues. <\/p>\n \u201cIt is with the deepest of regrets that (I) must cancel my performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia next weekend,\u201d the 51-year-old wrote on Instagram at the time. \u201cBut, due to an unforeseen medical delay regarding surgery (I) had earlier this year, (I\u2019ve) been advised by my team of specialists that the performance this weekend could further complicate matters.\u201d<\/p>\n The Roots Picnic shared his post and wrote, \u201cWe\u2019re sending love and keeping him in our thoughts as he continues to heal!\u201d<\/p>\n D\u2019Angelo was a four-time Grammy winner. He rose to fame in the early in the mid-1990s with his hit \u201cBrown Sugar.\u201d<\/p>\n His Grammy wins came for Best R&B album for \u201cVoodoo\u201d in 2001 and \u201cBlack Messiah\u201d in 2016. He also won Best R&B Song in 2016 for \u201cReally Love\u201d and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for \u201cUntitled (How Does It Feel).\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI told you a long time ago,\u201d singer Jill Scott wrote on X. \u201cYou ain\u2019t gon understand everyting & everything ain\u2019t meant 4 U, nor I, to understand. I never met D\u2019Angelo but I love him, respect him, admire his gift. This loss HURTS!! Love to my family that are family to him. I\u2019m so sorry. R.I.P.
