HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) \u2014 Grammy Award-winning R&B singer D\u2019Angelo has died after a battle with pancreatic cancer, TMZ reports. He was 51.<\/p>\n

According to TMZ, D\u2019Angelo, whose real name was Michael Eugene Archer, died Tuesday morning in NYC, sources close to his family and former manager Kedar Massenberg confirmed.<\/p>\n

In 1995, D\u2019Angelo\u2019s debut studio album, \u201cBrown Sugar,\u201d went platinum, with critics noting that the album ushered in the neo-soul movement of the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s.<\/p>\n

His next album, \u201cVoodoo,\u201d released in 2000, debuted at number one on the US Billboard Top 200. The album won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album at the 43rd Grammy Awards, and the single \u201cUntitled (How Does It Feel)\u201d won for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and was also nominated for Best R&B Song.<\/p>\n

After more than a decade, D\u2019Angelo released his third and final album, \u201cBlack Messiah,\u201d in 2014, winning the Grammy for Best R&B Album. The song \u201cReally Love\u201d won Best R&B Song.<\/p>\n

D\u2019Angelo has never been married. He shares a son with singer Angie Stone, who died in March of this year<\/strong><\/a>, and he has two other children, a daughter and a son.<\/p>\n
