John Summit\u2019s music taste is much more far-reaching than what you might think. In an interview with Rolling Stone Recommends, the DJ star shared his love for several of his favorite artists, including a recent deep dive into the Sixties and also Lady Gaga.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been listening to a lot of Beach Boys, to be honest, especially since Brian Wilson passed away<\/a> and he was such an amazing songwriter,\u201d he says, calling \u201cWouldn\u2019t It Be Nice\u201d his favorite song by them. \u201cThe first time I got put onto the Beach Boys? Honestly, just through Reddit, because the \u2018Let\u2019s Talk Music\u2019 subreddit is great, and where you can get very nerdy with everything, and I didn\u2019t realize how incredible of a songwriter Brian Wilson was until I fully dove into it, and I just find that whole thing interesting and so fascinating.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Summit also shared his love for Radiohead, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, and Charli XCX. He added that he really enjoys how young artists are trying new sonics in their approach, going further than the trends.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like last summer, especially pop music crushed [it], and it was very inspiring because it was very forward-thinking. It wasn\u2019t formulaic, it wasn\u2019t generic,\u201d Summit said. \u201cI started to hate pop music in the 2010s because everything sounded the same and it sounded like it was all written by the same person \u2026 Charli, Billie, absolutely crushed it. Chappell Roan, because she\u2019s a Midwest girl. So Midwest, I think it\u2019s really the art she creates is incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n Oh, and Summit loves Lady Gaga, and is sad he still hasn\u2019t gotten to see her Mayhem Ball Tour <\/a>\u2014\u00a0but did get to catch her historic Coachella performance.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s been the top of the game for years and years and years, and just so incredible live,\u201d Summit said, adding that \u201cher set design for her show is insane \u2026 It was like watching a whole movie.
