LITTLE ROCK, Ark. \u2013 Officials said an event on Saturday will honor a groundbreaking and Grammy award-nominated Arkansas gospel music group.<\/p>\n

Gladys McFadden and the Loving Sisters are being honored at 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Greater Second Baptist Church, 5615 Geyer Springs Road in Little Rock.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Country Music Hall of Fame announces 2025 inductees <\/a><\/p>\n

Event organizers said the event is more than a concert and will be \u201ca tribute and a chance for the community to pay homage to true legends and pioneers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Live performances, reflections, and special presentations from artists and community leaders are planned.<\/p>\n

According to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas<\/strong><\/a>, Gladys McFadden and the Loving Sisters formed when nine-year-old McFadden left the church choir, where her father was the pastor, to start the group. Sunday-morning radio performances led to their being signed to Peacock Records in the 1950s, which in turn led to increased radio airplay.<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s final album release was in 1978 and titled \u201cGospel Soul.\u201d It received a Grammy nomination<\/strong><\/a> for the track \u201cAmazing Grace.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group entered the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 2003<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
