Writer and showrunner Alena Smith<\/a> has signed with WME<\/a> for representation in all areas, Variety has learned exclusively. The agency will work with Smith to further develop her approach to storytelling in film and television.<\/p>\n

Smith is best known for creating the Apple TV series \u201cDickinson<\/a>,\u201d which told a comedic and anachronistic account of the early life of famed poet Emily Dickinson<\/a>. Hailee Steinfeld<\/a> starred in the series, which was one of the first shows to be launched under the then Apple TV+ banner. Notable guest stars also included John Mulaney<\/a>, Zosia Mamet<\/a>, Billy Eichner<\/a>, Wiz Khalifa<\/a>, and Chloe Fineman<\/a>. It ultimately ran for three seasons and 30 episodes, winning a Peabody Award in 2019 for its first season.<\/p>\n
