Kevin Federline <\/a>is speaking out about Britney Spears<\/a>, whose parenting and mental health he calls into question in newly published excerpts from his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew<\/em>.<\/p>\n In snippets from the book shared by The New York Times<\/a> <\/em>on Tuesday (Oct. 14), the actor writes about his fears that his superstar ex-wife\u2019s wellbeing is at stake and questions whether the termination of her conservatorship<\/a> in 2021 was the right call. \u201cThe truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it\u2019s racing toward something irreversible,\u201d Federline expresses in one of the chapters.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK,\u201d he continues. \u201cFrom where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we\u2019re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don\u2019t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n Spears and Federline got married in 2004 and finalized their divorce in 2007. They share two sons \u2014 20-year-old Sean and 19-year-old Jayden.<\/p>\n Elsewhere in You Thought You Knew<\/em>, Federline alleges that his former partner previously demonstrated shocking behavior toward their kids. \u201cThey would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep \u2014 \u2018Oh, you\u2019re awake?\u2019 \u2014 with a knife in her hand,\u201d he writes. \u201cThen she\u2019d turn around and pad off without explanation.\u201d<\/p>\n A representative for Spears, however, dismissed Federline\u2019s claims in a statement shared with Billboard<\/em>. \u201cWith news from Kevin\u2019s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off [Britney],\u201d the spokesperson wrote. \u201cSadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir [The Woman in Me].\u201d<\/p>\n Federline\u2019s memoir is set to hit shelves on Oct. 21. On Tuesday night, he\u2019ll give his only televised interview about the project via Entertainment Tonight<\/em>; in a teaser<\/a> for the upcoming conversation, Federline explained that he feels he needs to \u201csound the alarm\u201d on his ex-wife\u2019s alleged ongoing mental health issues.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never, ever, once, been against Britney,\u201d he adds in his memoir, according to the published excerpts. \u201cI\u2019ve only tried to help my sons have an incredible relationship with their mother. And it\u2019s hard because when I really reflect on everything that\u2019s happened \u2014 my kids do not know the woman that I married. And I\u2019ve spent two decades trying to bridge that gap.\u201d<\/p>\n Federline\u2019s shocking claims come as Spears has been open about trying to nurture her relationship with her kids, who were placed in their father\u2019s custody following the two stars\u2019 split. In 2023, the boys moved with Federline to Hawaii.<\/p>\n On Christmas 2024<\/a>, Spears shared that she got to spend quality time with Jayden after a long separation. \u201cBest Christmas of my life !!! I haven\u2019t seen my boys in 2 years !!!\u201d she wrote on Instagram at the time. \u201cTears of joy and literally in shock everyday koo koo crazy so in love and blessed !!!
