Britney Spears<\/strong><\/a> has clapped back at ex-husband Kevin Federline<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith news from Kevin\u2019s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,\u201d a rep for Spears, 43, said in a statement to Us Weekly<\/em> on Tuesday, October 14. \u201cAll she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spears\u2019 rep added that the pop star \u201cdetailed her journey in her memoir,\u201d The Woman in Me<\/em>, which was published in 2023.<\/p>\n

Federline chronicled his marriage to Spears and the aftermath of her controversial conservatorship in his memoir, out October 21. The exes were married<\/a> from 2004 to 2007 and share two children: Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19. Less than a year after the exes finalized their divorce, Britney\u2019s father, Jamie Spears<\/strong>, placed her under a conservatorship after she had what was described at the time as a public breakdown.<\/p>\n

An excerpt from the book published via The New York Times on Tuesday, October 14, alleges that Federline, 47, and Spears\u2019 two sons \u2014 Sean Preston, now 20, and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to an excerpt of the former backup dancer\u2019s book, published by the New York Times<\/em><\/a> on Tuesday, Federline claimed that Sean Preston and Jayden James were afraid of staying with their mom.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep \u2014 \u2018Oh, you\u2019re awake?\u2019 \u2014 with a knife in her hand,\u201d Federline wrote. \u201cThen she\u2019d turn around and pad off without explanation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Federline also recalled \u201cone of the hardest nights\u201d he claimed he ever endured, which involved Spears being placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in 2008 after a standoff that involved their children.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt sick over what she was going through,\u201d Federline penned. \u201cThis was someone I had loved. Someone I had built a life with. The mother of my children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Federline also touched on the Free Britney movement<\/a> \u2014 the public outcry to end Jamie\u2019s conservatorship over the pop star. (A judge terminated the conservatorship in November 2021.)<\/p>\n

In his book, Federline shared his belief that the movement may have done more harm than good. He also reflected on his ex\u2019s social media activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it\u2019s racing toward something irreversible,\u201d Federline wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we\u2019re getting close to the eleventh hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don\u2019t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n
