Tickets are still available for Garry Tallent’s tribute concerts to Sun Records, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, on the boardwalk at Fifth Avenue in Asbury Park.<\/p>\n
Tallent, bassist for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, will serve as music director. He will be joined by E Street drummer Max Weinberg, who leads the Max Weinberg 7 on NBC’s “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” and by other special guests, according to Rick Korn, producer.<\/p>\n

The “From the Cottonfields” concerts will raise money for the Alliance of Neighbors of Monmouth County, to benefit World Hunger Year and families of local victims of the Sept. 11 disaster.<\/p>\n
The tribute to Sun Records, the Memphis label that launched the career of Elvis Presley and other ’50s rockers, will feature performances by many studio musicians from the label’s heyday, including DJ Fontana, Sonny Burgess, Kern Kennedy, Cowboy Jack Clement, Billy Lee Riley, blues artist Little Milton, fiddler Dusty Rhodes and rock saxophonist Ace Cannon.<\/p>\n
Korn has described the events as “docu-concerts.” The shows will include clips from “Good Rockin’ Tonight,” a PBS documentary about Sun Records that airs Nov. 28.<\/p>\n
Bruce Sinofsky, director of “Good Rockin’ Tonight,” will be the master of ceremonies.<\/p>\n
Tickets range from $60 to $360 and are available at the box office; at Jack’s Music, Broad Street in Red Bank; and at Vintage Vinyl, Route 1 in the Fords section of Woodbridge.<\/p>\n
Last month, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and many other musicians joined forces for two concerts at Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, that raised more than $700,000 for the alliance.<\/p>\n
