Kevin Federline, Britney Spears\u2019<\/a> ex-husband, is opening up about his deep concerns for the pop star\u2019s future in his new memoir, \u201cYou Thought You Knew.\u201d The former dancer and DJ reflected on his years of co-parenting with Spears and expressed concern that ending her conservatorship in 2021 might have been a mistake.<\/p>\n Speaking to The New York Times<\/a>, Federline revealed that he and Spears haven\u2019t spoken in years, but his concerns have grown stronger.<\/p>\n \u201cThe truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it\u2019s racing toward something irreversible,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we\u2019re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don\u2019t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n Federline also revisited one of the most harrowing nights of their past, the evening Spears was placed under a 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was one of the hardest nights of my life,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI felt sick over what she was going through. This was someone I had loved. Someone I had built a life with. The mother of my children.\u201d<\/p>\n In his book, Federline also addressed the \u201cFree Britney movement,\u201d which gained international attention as fans campaigned to end the singer\u2019s 13-year conservatorship. While he acknowledged that the campaign \u201cstarted from a good place,\u201d he believes it has since created unintended consequences.<\/p>\n Federline urged those who once fought for her freedom to now rally for her safety. \u201cAll those people who put so much effort into that should now put the same energy into the \u2018Save Britney\u2019 movement,\u201d he wrote. \u201cBecause this is no longer about freedom.
