Sugar<\/a>, the alt-rock band Bob Mould<\/a> formed after H\u00fcsker D\u00fc<\/a>\u2019s split, have reunited. Back with their first music and shows in more than three decades, the band is gearing up for dates in May 2026 in London and New York, with Mould alongside original bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis. The new single, \u201cHouse of Dead Memories,\u201d is \u201ca failed-relationship song,\u00a0nothing too unique for me,\u201d Mould tells Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> in an interview about the reunion. \u201cBut the riff is definitely a Sugar-type riff, and it was fun to get the three of us on the floor together to record for the first time in ages.\u201d Listen to it below.<\/p>\n Sugar had reconvened in 2011, around their 20th anniversary, Mould says in the RS<\/em> article. But \u201cwe all walked away thinking, \u2018Eh, not right now.\u2019 At least for me, it was like, \u2018I think I\u2019m going to do what I\u2019m doing.\u2019\u201d That was his ongoing solo career\u2014his latest LP was March\u2019s Here We Go Crazy<\/em><\/a>\u2014but after regrouping in the studio last year, the trio decided the time was right.<\/p>\n Further activity depends on the response to the new music and shows, Mould added. \u201cI don\u2019t want to get out too far in front of the skis, as they say. People\u2019s reactions will probably guide a lot of the possibilities in front of us, whether it\u2019s more songs or more shows. All three of us are all in for whatever feels right. I just want to see if people are still interested.\u201d<\/p>\n The single is released by Granary Music\/BMG.
