THE RUNDOWN<\/strong><\/p>\n In her WSJ Magazine profile, Hailey Bieber opened up about how she dislikes being pitted against other stars, including Justin\u2019s ex Selena Gomez.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n She said she \u201cdidn\u2019t ask\u201d for that treatment and doesn\u2019t feel competitive with other beauty brands, either.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n The star spoke in more detail about being compared to Gomez in June 2023, saying, \u201cI\u2019ve hated it since the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Hailey Bieber is celebrating one of Rhode\u2019s most successful years ever, following its $1 billion acquisition by e.l.f. Beauty<\/a> and its recent launch in Sephora. Still, she told WSJ Magazine<\/a> that those milestones haven\u2019t stopped negative comments about her marriage to Justin Bieber<\/a> or people pitting her against other celebrities, including Justin\u2019s ex Selena Gomez<\/a>.<\/p>\n She said she doesn\u2019t feel competitive with other Sephora brands, including Gomez\u2019s Rare Beauty line. \u201cI think there is space for everybody,\u201d she said, noting that she is most competitive with herself. \u201cI don\u2019t feel competitive with people that I\u2019m not inspired by.\u201d<\/p>\n When the reporter tried to ask directly about comparisons to Gomez and Rare Beauty, Hailey\u2019s publicist shut the question down. But Hailey still addressed how little she appreciates being pitted against anyone.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn\u2019t ask for that,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen people want to see you a certain way and they\u2019ve made up a story about you in their minds, it\u2019s not up to you to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n While speculation about her and Justin\u2019s relationship hasn\u2019t stopped either, Hailey stressed what their reality is: \u201cWe\u2019re both really finding our voices of who we are and, I believe, both really walking authentically in what it is we actually want to be doing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
