This is the latest look at the shade seals near the northeast plaza.<strong>\u2002 <\/strong>(Photo by Lowe Engineers)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>An expansion to the Downtown Tucker Entertainment District got the green light during Tuesday\u2019s Tucker City Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>During the Oct. 14 meeting, council unanimously approved the expansion of the district to include the Tucker Town Green, which is slated to open next month. The district was first created in 2022 to allow Tucker businesses within the district with a consumption on-premises alcohol license to serve beverages that can be enjoyed outside, with a special sticker on the cups.<\/p>\n<aside>\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>Courtney Smith, community development director for the city, said the goal is to enhance the vibrancy and street life in downtown Tucker.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-1    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cPeople can frequent our businesses, get some food, get an adult beverage, an alcoholic beverage, leave that premise and go into the Tucker Town Green, which is just a beautiful space,\u201d she said during Tuesday\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n<p>District 3 Councilwoman Alexis Weaver questioned whether expanding the boundary is enough to invite more residents and businesses to take part in the nightlife incentive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t necessarily see a lot of participation in it,\u201d Weaver said of the entertainment district. \u201cHow are we keeping the retailers and the restaurants up to date about the fact that this is not just for festivals?\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-2    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>Smith said there are efforts to better inform businesses that will likely \u201caccelerate\u201d once the Town Green opens on Nov. 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-light-gray-background-color has-background\"><strong>Related stories:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/roughdraftatlanta.com\/2025\/10\/07\/tucker-mayoral-candidates-pickleball\/\">Candidates at Tucker candidate forum differ on need for dedicated police department, pickleball process<\/a> <br \/>\u2022 <\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/roughdraftatlanta.com\/2025\/10\/14\/protests-denouncing-trump-presidency-georgia\/\">Tucker \u2018No Kings\u2019 rallies against Trump presidency planned for this weekend<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Tucker City Council updates:<\/strong><\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-3    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>\u25cf Mayor Frank Auman confirmed during the meeting that the Town Green, an $8.6 million project near Main Street, will open \u201con time and under budget.\u201d City officials confirmed that construction on the site is expected to be complete by Oct. 24. The meeting is planned for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Tucker City Hall, 1975 Lakeside Parkway, Suite 350. This will be the last public meeting to provide feedback on plans for the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cfCouncil approved the first read and held a public hearing of an Ordinance for RZ-25-003 to amend four conditions of zoning related to a rental townhome development at 2245 Northlake Parkway.
