Keanu Reeves<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 name is one of the most recognizable in Hollywood \u2014 but the actor almost chose a very different moniker.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got paid when I was like 16, so I was a professional actor around 16, 17 [years old],\u201d Reeves, 61, said on the Wednesday, October 15, episode of the \u201cNew Heights\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201cI was in Toronto, Canada, and then I got a manager who lived in Los Angeles. \u2026 At 20 years old I drove in my car to Los Angeles. Got out of my car and my manager said, \u2018We want to change your name.\u2019 So that\u2019s like, a welcome to Hollywood [moment].\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if there was another name picked out for him, Reeves replied, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember I was walking on the beach and I was just like, \u2018My name? What if I change my name?\u2019\u201d Reeves recalled.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tKeanu Reeves isn\u2019t bothered about recent speculation that he secretly tied the knot with girlfriend Alexandra Grant. \u201cWell, that wasn\u2019t the first time,\u201d Reeves, 61, said of the rumors in an interview with E! News at the New York City premiere of his latest movie, Good Fortune, on Monday, October 13. \u201cWe\u2019ve been going out [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While trying to come up with a different moniker, Reeves explained he was considering going by his middle name, Charles, or paying tribute to the street he grew up on.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I became KC Reeves. I was credited as KC Reeves,\u201d he said, before noting that he thinks that was his listed name in his first film. \u201cAnd then I couldn\u2019t do it. So then I would be in auditions and they would go, \u2018KC Reeves.\u2019 And I wouldn\u2019t even answer. Six months later, I was like, \u2018I\u2019m not doing this.\u2019 That\u2019s a Hollywood moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reeves\u2019 rose to fame in 1989 with his breakout role in the comedy Bill & Ted\u2019s Excellent Adventure<\/em>, and has since starred in several other films including Speed<\/em><\/a> and the John Wick<\/em> franchise. Outside of his career, Reeves has made headlines for his love life, including recent speculation that he secretly wed girlfriend<\/a> Alexandra Grant.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n
