Britney Spears<\/strong><\/a> and Kevin Federline<\/strong><\/a> have differing viewpoints about his memoir.<\/p>\n

After Spears, 43, claimed her ex-husband\u2019s upcoming book, You Thought You Knew<\/em><\/a>, is a cash grab, Federline, 47, begged to differ in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em> on Wednesday, October 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoney\u2019s not the root of this thing,\u201d he insisted. \u201cI feel like, if she has the right to tell her story, why don\u2019t I?\u201d<\/p>\n

Spears issued a fiery statement<\/a> on Tuesday, October 14, after various publications began releasing excerpts from Federline\u2019s tell-all, which hits stores next week.<\/p>\n

The former couple \u2014 who tied the knot in 2004 and share sons Sean Preston and Jayden \u2014 have gone from feuding exes to supportive coparents. Federline praised his ex-wife for seeking mental health treatment amid her father [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWith news from Kevin\u2019s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,\u201d Spears\u2019 rep told Us<\/em>. \u201cAll she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, Spears released her own book, The Woman in Me<\/em>, in which she candidly looked back on her music career, her high-profile relationships with Justin Timberlake<\/strong> and Federline as well as her 13-year conservatorship.<\/p>\n

Now, Federline is sharing his side of the story in You Thought You Knew<\/em>, which chronicles how he became a household name after marrying Spears in 2004. While looking back on their whirlwind romance, which ended in divorce in 2007, the former backup dancer claims the pop star called Timberlake<\/a>, 44, the night before their wedding, mixed wine and prescription medication while pregnant and snorted cocaine when she was still breast-feeding their two sons, Preston, now 20, and Jayden, now 19, among other allegations.<\/p>\n

The pop star addressed her ups and downs over the years in The Woman in Me, which was released in October 2023. From her public struggles to her controversial 13-year conservatorship, nothing was off [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Federline admitted he \u201ccouldn\u2019t even remember the last conversation\u201d he had with Spears, though he insisted he only wishes her the best.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I really want is for her to be able to have a wonderful relationship with her children,\u201d he told Us<\/em>. \u201cI want her to be happy, healthy and all of the things. I want nothing but greatness for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

That said, Federline reveals in You Thought You Knew<\/em> that he worries about Spears\u2019 \u201csurvival\u201d after a Los Angeles judge freed the \u201cToxic\u201d singer from her conservatorship in 2021, giving her control of her personal, financial and medical decisions for the first time since her estranged father, Jamie Spears<\/strong>, became her guardian in 2008.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it\u2019s racing toward something irreversible,\u201d he writes. \u201cIt\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we\u2019re getting close to the eleventh hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don\u2019t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n
