Britney Spears\u2019<\/strong> first ex-husband, Jason Alexander,<\/strong> is calling out Kevin Federline.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n On Tuesday, October 14, Alexander \u2014 who was childhood friends with the singer, 43, and briefly married her in 2004 \u2014 shared an Instagram post<\/a> criticizing Federline, 47, for painting the pop star in a negative light in his memoir, You Thought You Knew<\/em>.<\/p>\n In his post, Alexander included a photo of the former dancer looking fit \u2014 which he described as being taken before Federline began receiving child support checks from Spears \u2014 and then a snap of him looking less in shape after allegedly getting money from the \u201cToxic\u201d singer for their sons Sean,<\/strong> 20, and Jayden,<\/strong> 19.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s easy to point fingers now, to talk about Britney\u2019s struggles like you were just some innocent bystander watching it all happen,\u201d Alexander wrote in his caption. \u201cBut that\u2019s not what went down.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou were her husband. You were supposed to be her protector. Instead, you were partying right alongside her \u2014 the drugs, the alcohol, the chaos\u2026 you were there for all of it,\u201d he added. \u201cYou weren\u2019t trying to pull her out \u2014 you were feeding off it.\u201d<\/p>\n Alexander claimed Federline \u2014 who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007 \u2014 \u201cdidn\u2019t walk away empty-handed\u201d from the relationship and that he financially profited off of the \u201cCircus\u201d hitmaker.<\/p>\n \u201cYou walked away with full custody, child support, and a lifestyle funded by the same woman you now want to distance yourself from,\u201d Alexander wrote. \u201cLet\u2019s be honest \u2014 you became a millionaire off of her pain. And now, you want to act like the mature one, like the man who held it all together? No. That\u2019s not growth, that\u2019s revision.\u201d<\/p>\n Alexander further alleged Federline \u201cplayed the game\u201d and \u201cused the media and the court system to your advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBritney has been through enough \u2014 and it\u2019s always men trying to profit from her story while ignoring the damage they helped cause,\u201d Alexander noted.<\/p>\n \u201cYou want to tell your side? Fine. But don\u2019t pretend you were the victim or the hero. Be real. Be accountable,\u201d he concluded. \u201cBecause those of us who were really there \u2014 who actually cared about her, not the fame \u2014 we remember how it really went down.\u201d<\/p>\n In response to Federline\u2019s claims, a representative for Spears shared a statement with People<\/em><\/a>, noting, \u201cWith news from Kevin\u2019s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism.
