The cast of The Inbetweeners pictured on the set of the first movie Bwark Prods\/Kobal\/Shutterstock<\/span><\/p>\n British comedy fans have had plenty to talk about this last week, following the news that <\/span>The Inbetweeners<\/span><\/a> looks <\/span>set for a revival<\/span><\/a> after a hiatus of over a decade.<\/span><\/p>\n And now, <\/span>Joe Thomas<\/span><\/a> \u2013 who played Simon Cooper in the cult sitcom and its two spin-off movies \u2013 has spoken about the show\u2019s reboot, confirming that he\u2019s up for making a return.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI feel enormously close to all those people and, obviously, I love spending time with them,\u201d he told <\/span>The Sun<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Joe added: \u201cIf there was an opportunity to spend more time with them in any capacity, I\u2019d love that\u2026 that\u2019s pretty much all I can say.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Earlier this week it <\/span>came to light<\/span><\/a> that production company Banijay UK and the creators of The Inbetweeners had come to an agreement which \u201cpaves the way for the return of the hit comedy title\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n However, speaking about reprising his role, Joe \u2013 whose character Simon was an entertainingly hopeless romantic \u2013 has also reflected on why the delusional nature of The Inbetweeners\u2019 core four might not be as funny with age.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhen you get older, your delusions fall away, you look at life as it is,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt means you get into less stupid situations I suppose, also the challenges get bigger; you can make larger mistakes when you get older.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Nevertheless, Joe heaped praise on the show\u2019s writers Damon Beesley and Iain Morris and their creative ability.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always been really, really drawn to brilliant writing and I genuinely think, despite filthy language, The Inbetweeners is a brilliantly written comedy,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHonestly, if it was a case of doing more I do have faith in Iain and Damon. It\u2019s their show actually. I mean I\u2019m very much a \u2018follow the people\u2019 person.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Joe co-starred in The Inbetweeners alongside <\/span>Simon Bird<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>James Buckley<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Blake Harrison<\/span><\/a>, with the sitcom going on to scoop British Comedy Awards as well as a TV Bafta in the fan-voted Audience Award category.<\/span><\/p>\n Two movie spin-offs followed in 2011 and 2014, drawing from the rich comedic fountain of lads\u2019 holidays as the quartet headed to Malia and Australia, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n However a 10th anniversary \u201cFwends Reunited\u201d special <\/span>disappointed some fans<\/span><\/a> who wanted more from the content.<\/span><\/p>\n
